How to choose right size of baby sling?
Before starting a babywearing adventure, parents ask themselves: how to choose the size of woven wrap or ring sling. How do I choose the length of the baby sling?
Little Frog woven wraps come in various lengths from size 2 (2.6m) to size 9 (6.2m). The most popular sizes are 4 (3,6m), 5 (4,2m) and 6 (4,6m). The length of the wrap depends on the type of tying we will be using and the size of the wearer. Different types of tying require different lengths of baby sling - some are less and others are more 'sling-able'.
Little Frog ring slings are available in three sizes: S (1.7m), M (2.0m) and L (2.3m), of which size M is the most universal. If you are petite and not tall, choose size S, while if you wear XL and above - we recommend ring sling in size L. Here, the size / stature of the person carrying the little one is most important.
What is important when choosing size of woven wrap?
Pay attention to:
- a) type of tie you are going to use. There are two basic sling ties suitable for a newborn: the Kangaroo and the Front Wrap Carry (FWC). The Kangaroo requires a shorter sling (size 4-5), FWC tie needs a longer one (size 5-7). For children sitting up on their own, we recommend the Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC) tying. Its execution requires also longer sling (size 6-7).
- b) stature of wearing person: Taller and bigger person need a longer sling, while shorter and petite person will choose a shorter sling.Looking at the table, it is easy to see the differences between the lengths offered to women and men, so it is best to make your choice according to the person who will carry the baby more often, or simply buy a longer sling, the length of which will be enough for everyone. Often, one longer sling e.g. size 6 (chosen for a woman) will allow some tying to be used by a better-built man (e.g. Kangaroo)
